As 2009 comes to a close, let’s re-cap the year!
Current Projects…….
- At the Anderson Center for Autism, the rehabilitated Davis Hall residence is now a new home for 16 students and staff. This very successful project saved an 80 year-old brick building from demolition. With a seamless addition, large amounts of natural daylight, and restored stone walls, this gently aged house gells into the scheme of the campus neighborhood.
- The Anderson state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Facility is now up & running. It processes and treats water flowing through the sanitary system, which eliminates the need for costly septic pumping and maintenance.
- The Village Center, a new administrative and central hub for campus, is 9 months into construction. The steel frame and curved roof already provide amazing birds’ eye views of the treetops and western sunsets. This modern building provides a nice contrast to the overall campus scape.
- Malcolm Hall is the next new challenge at Anderson. We are close to rolling out a plan to re-hab this massive, existing fieldstone dormitory for new administrative space. Malcolm and Village Center will face each other across the green, point & counterpoint with their 20th & 21st Century building styles.
New Projects…….
- For the Camphill Village, a master plan is on the drawing board, implemented with new sustainable concepts. The on-going collaboration with this progressive community has been a great learning experience, with exchange of ideas, learning the history of the Camphill movement, and a great back-and-forth dialog during the planning process.
- Taking a globe-trotting turn, meet our new client, the China Buddhist Association of New York. We are working on the re-design of their temple and headquarters in Flushing, Queens. The big challenge will be setting a Chinese temple into the fabric of this busy urban neighborhood. Running a project in the city brings a lot of new energy to the firm!
- Staying in the ‘Far East’, we are also working with a Japanese Steakhouse to entirely fit out their new location with a state-of-the-art Hibachi-style dining room & kitchen. Stay tuned…..
- Shooting back to the home course, the Millbrook Golf & Tennis Club has hired us to give their golf house a face-lift, packed with new features that the membership has requested.
